Customize General Profile


Customize General Profile

In the "Name" box you can enter the name you want for the current profile and it will change the profile name shown in the profile pane; in "Description" box, enter the description; in "Author" box, enter the author name.


Check "Open default viewer" box if you want to auto open the created PDF after creation.

Location

If ConvertXtoPDF Free is installed as a virtual desktop printer, choose "Local" then you can choose any folder to save the PDF file;

If ConvertXtoPDF Free was installed on a print server and added on client computers, choose "Server" then ConvertXtoPDF Free will save the created PDF file on a folder located on the print server like the computer where ConvertXtoPDF Free was installed and shared from.

Click the Red Down Arrow and you can choose the PDF version used to create PDF files: 1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6/1.7. Check "Enable PDF/A" if you want the created PDF compliant with "PDF/A-1a" or "PDF/A-1b" ISO standards.

Check "Linear PDF" if you want the created PDF optimized for fast webpage loading.

File saving options

This section allows you to choose options like the output, which save dialog to prompt and what to do when PDF of the same filename exists, like merging PDF documents.

Save options
This menu enables you to choose a preset or use a custom one. You can add new or manage those by clicking on New/Manage. A predefined preset can be used by multiple profiles, while Custom preset affect just the current profile.

Prompt standard save dialog
Check this box and each time you create a PDF the program will prompt a dialog where you can set the output folder and filename for PDF to be created, whether to append/insert the PDF to an existing PDF with the same filename, what to do once the PDF creation is finished (open with default viewer/send via email) and setting PDF options (encrypt PDF and add document information). This window also offers a shortcut to input the license if the program is not activated.

Prompt simple save dialog
Check this box and each time you create a PDF the program will prompt a dialog in which you can set the destination folder and filename for PDF to be created.

Use predefined settings
Check this box if you want to customize the save settings for the current profile. The custom settings only works for the current profile. If you need a save settings that apply to multiple profiles, you must create a save preset.

Folder
You can enter any folder path or click Browse button to save the created PDF. You can also click on the down arrow next to the Folder field to choose one of the default preset folders: My Documents/Printing application folder/Last used folder. If you choose a preset in Save Options, the Folder field will be auto-filled.

The Macro button lets you define rules for auto creating folders using predefined names. You can select any of next macros:

[N] - The name of the document being converted
[YMD] - Date in the format YYYYMMDD (year, month, day)
[Y] - Year in the format YYYY
[M] - Month in the format MM
[D] - Day in the format DD
[HIS] - time in the format hhmmss (hour, minute, second)
[H] - Hour in the format hh
[I] - Minute in the format mm
[S] - Second in the format ss
[C] - Counter in the format cc (it begins with 01 and increases at each printed document, if a file with the same name exists in the save folder)
[W] - Workstation
[U] - User name

You can also enter UNC (network paths) in the Folder name field if you want to save the PDF on another computer in your network. Only a full path is allowed. If the network file requires authentication, you need enter the username and password in User name and Password fields.

File

You can type the filename for the created PDF in File field or use Macro to autoname it in order to use different filenames for each created PDF. You can select any of next macros:

[N] - The name of the document being converted

When file exists

When a PDF with the same filename exists in the output folder, you can choose any of the next actions:

· Overwrite existing file: overwrite the existing PDF with the newly created PDF.
· Prompt save dialog: a "Save as" dialog will be prompted where you can change the PDF filename or output folder.
· Do not save: the current PDF will not be saved.
· Modify file name: modify the filename based on one of the following 3 rules: Auto number new files、Append date and time、Auto number existing files.
· Merge with existing file by: merge the new PDF content with the existing one: Append to the end (add the pages of current PDF at the end of the existing one) or Insert at the beginning (add the pages of current PDF before the existing one).
· PDF Password: if you choose an existing PDF file which is password-protected and you want to merge the current PDF with it, you have to enter the password; if not password protected, you must leave this field empty.

After Save Action

When the PDF creation is finished, you can run a particular application with various options. To set after save actions you need to check the Run application box. This section enables you to choose an after save action preset or use a custom one. You can add new predefined presets or manage the existing ones by clicking on New/Manage. A predefined save preset can be used by multiple profiles, while Custom settings only affect the current profile.

Location: shows you the location where the created PDF is saved.

Application: to start an application after the PDF creation is finished, enter here the full path to the .exe file for that application or click the Browse button to find and select the application.

Parameters: if the application you want to run supports parameters, you can enter them in this field and they will be passed on to the application when the request is sent.
